Is Veil Illuminating Complexion Fix the Magic Wand?

When Frends Beauty contacts me to review a product, I get really excited.  They could send me a clown nose and I would be happy to review it!  However, when I was sent the Veil Illuminating Complexion Fix, I couldn’t review it!

I had to have Olivia Sr. try it and tell me what she thought of it.  Why?  One - She loves makeup and her addiction has been passed down to me.  Two - The makeup world has pretty much forgotten her generation; the majority of beauty products are shown on a more youthful crowd.  Three - If a makeup product works on her, then by default it will work on anyone younger than her.  Four - She has the final say if the product is Wise Owl Approved!

The Veil Illuminating Complexion Fix retails for $40 and comes in 4 levels of depth and 12 shades to accommodate pink, neutral, and golden undertones.  There is pretty much a color for everyone.

  • 1P - Subtle undertones of pink.
  • 1N - Undertones of pink & gold, neutral of family.
  • 1G - Subtle undertones of gold, deepest in family.

The Veil Illuminator (shortened the name for this post) is similar to those click pens of illuminating highlighting products.  I am sure you are  familiar with the famous one from a French cosmetic line.

The product is made with a concoction of silicone and various light illuminating and diffusing ingredients with others to soothe and calm the skin.  I didn’t tell Olivia Sr. any of this.

The color received was 1P which is a pink based color in the lightest shade.  Olivia Sr. is about a medium skin tone with undertones of peach.  You might not think the color matches but take into consideration pink neutralizes brown and gray tones. This works out really perfectly for her since she has brown tones around her eye area and some brown spots.  The shade may sound a bit light for her medium skin tone and from the swatch you can see how it differs from my light/medium yellow-olive tone, but it works like a highlighter and is virtually undetectable.

Olivia Sr. has tried the French brand and honestly didn't like it due to its slippery texture.  Even though the Veil Illuminator is silicone based, she was surprised at how it felt creamy and moisturizing without ever feeling overdosed with the silicone slip.

Upon application, this is what Olivia Sr. liked about the product:

  • Easy to apply and blends easily; brush on and just blend with the finger.
  • Feels soothing.
  • No cloying fragrance.
  • Dries to a powdery finish
  • Has a diffusing glow without the look of shimmer.
  • Softens the appearance of fine lines.
  • Never feels dry or tight.
  • Does not feel heavy on the skin.

Application

The product not only has light diffusing properties to highlight skin, it also allows coverage without looking like a thick layer of makeup.  The skin looks like skin.

Here, it is used around the laugh lines.  See how the skin has that softened glow?

Ha-Ha Lines

This Veil Illuminator not only conceals and gives the skin a natural luminosity.  It does make the skin look refreshed, awake, and younger, making it an excellent eye primer.  This one will soothe the eye area and allow makeup to look more true.

Result

Is the Veil Illuminating Complexion Fix a magic wand?  It didn't quite change the frog into the prince when it was tapped.  Oh well.

Does this product receive the Wise Owl Approval? Yes, it has received the stamp of approval from Olivia Sr. and has been deemed to work on the skin of wise owls with ease!
